The story is about friendship and love, deception and betrayal, ambition and lust for power. In the middle of it all is, Linghu Chong, an orphan who is the senior student of Yue Buqun, leader of Huashan Sect, and the protagonist of the story. The story deals with his journey and development as a swordsman and his witness to the various intrigues which take place in the martial world of the story.

Much of the plotting and intrigue in the story deal primarily with the relationship of many of the characters to a legendary sword manuscript. Legend has it that there is a martial arts manuscript Bixie Sword Manual in the House of Lin, which when learned will give the person god-like speed and power. Many people lusted after this manuscript, among them Zuo Lengchan, the leader of Songshan Sect and leader of the Five Mountains Sects Alliance, Yue Buqun, Yu Canghai, leader of Qingcheng Sect, who sports the somewhat nonstandard Szechuan dialect.

The Smiling, Proud Wanderer is a wuxia novel by Jin Yong (Louis Cha). It was first serialised in Hong Kong in the newspaper Ming Pao from 20 April 1967 to 12 October 1969. The Chinese title of the novel, Xiao Ao Jiang Hu, literally means to live a carefree life in a mundane world of strife. Alternate English translations of the title include Laughing in the Wind, The Peerless Gallant Errant, and The Proud and Gallant Wanderer. Another alternative title, State of Divinity, is used for some of the novel’s adaptations.

To impress the girl he has a crush on, Kouichi (a high schooler) lets her use his address in a gay ad. Soon, a reply comes, and Kouichi finds himself meeting with the man he made a joke of, intending to reject him. But he was surprised to find out that the man is actually a teacher in his school! Hirokazu is a really nice man. He seemed so lonely that Kouichi just couldn’t find it in himself to hurt him. One date leads to another, and Kouichi falls for his teacher for real… the problem is, Hirokazu doesn’t know that Kouichi is a student at his workplace.

A sweet, down-to-earth story.

The Deer and the Cauldron, also known as The Duke of Mount Deer, is a novel by Jin Yong (Louis Cha) and the last of his works. The novel was initially published in Hong Kong as a serial, and ran from 24 October 1969 to 23 September 1972 in the newspaper Ming Pao. Although the book is often referred to as a wuxia novel, it is not archetypal of the genre, since the protagonist, Wei Xiaobao, is not an adept martial artist, but rather, an antihero who relies on wit and cunning to get out of trouble. Another alternative title of the novel is On Ruding Mountains.

Toradora!’s story begins with the male protagonist Ryuji Takasu who is frustrated at trying to look his best as he enters his second year of high school. Despite his gentle personality, his eyes make him look like an intimidating delinquent so he is utterly hopeless about his chances of getting a girlfriend anytime soon, and does not have many close friends either. After being greeted by his hungover mother in the morning, Ryuji goes to school and is happy to find that he gets to be in the same class as his best friend Yusaku Kitamura and crush Minori Kushieda. However, it is then that he unexpectedly knocks into “the school’s most dangerous animal of the highest risk level” — Taiga Aisaka — who just happens to also be in his class, and is a good friend of Minori.

Taiga has a negative attitude towards others and will not hesitate to snap at people. After meeting Ryuji, she takes an instant dislike of him. Taiga comes from a rich family, though she moved out to live on her own due to family issues, and by coincidence is now living in an apartment next door to Ryuji. After Ryuji discovers that Taiga has a crush on Yusaku, and Taiga finds out about Ryuji’s affections towards Minori, Ryuji suggests that they cooperate so they can win the object of their affections. Ryuji says he will do anything to get closer to Minori, which Taiga exploits, making Ryuji her personal servant, and getting him to do household chores like cooking and cleaning for her. Taiga spends a lot of her time over at his house, so much so that she could almost be considered a member of his family. Since Ryuji spends a lot of time with Taiga, he is opened up to her world and to a side of her that most people do not see. The two also attempt to help each other in order to improve how people view them. Unknown to them, however, people they know from school start to become curious about their strange relationship together and rumors begin to spread about them.

Middle school teacher Takagishi Akemi’s interest is piqued by a boy who stands alone in the classroom. With sad eyes, he stays away from the others. His name is Saitou Yakumo. There is a rumor that he can ‘see ghosts’ so his classmates alienate him. Kisaragi is constantly compared to, and lives in the shadow of, his talented baseball player older brother Mutsuki. With the summer before their last year of high school quickly approaching, it’s a time for change and growth as they prepare to transition into adulthood.

Mimizuku, a small girl with chains on her wrists and ankles and the numbers “332” branded onto her forehead, wanders into the Forest of Night seeking to be eaten by a monster. However, when the ruler of the monsters, the mysterious and beautiful “King of Night,” refuses to eat her, she tries to formulate a way to convince him otherwise.

A Deadly Secret, also translated as Requiem of Ling Sing and Secret of the Linked Cities, is a wuxia novel by Jin Yong (Louis Cha). It was first published in the magazine Southeast Asia Weekly (東南亞周刊) and the Hong Kong newspaper Ming Pao in 1963. Its original Chinese title was Su Xin Jian before Jin Yong changed it to Lian Cheng Jue. The story revolves around the adventures of the protagonist Di Yun, an ordinary young peasant, who is imprisoned after being framed. In his quest for vengeance, he accidentally acquires the Liancheng Swordplay manual (連城劍谱), an ancient artifact not only prized for the skills detailed inside, but also for containing a secret leading to a treasure.

Kara no Kyoukai is a series of stories written by Kinoko Nasu with illustrations by Takashi Takeuchi.

The first five chapters were posted online on Nasu and Takeuchi’s dojin website “Takebouki” starting Oct 1998, and the last two chapters being released at Comiket 56 in 1999. In 2001, part of the story was included in “Tsukihime PLUS-DISK,” created by TYPE-MOON, the doujin circle Nasu and Takeuchi joined. The story gained huge popularity, and the doujinshi edition of the stories saw release on December 30, 2001 at Comiket 61.

Toaru Jihanki no Fanfare is a Toaru Kagaku no Railgun mini-novel by the author of the Baccano! and Durarara!! series, Narita Ryohgo. It was included with the special edition of the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun Manga Volume 05 as part of the Pseudepigrapha Railgun artbook.

Misaka Mikoto finds herself fighting against the Rank 7 Level 5 of Academy City, Sogiita Gunha. However, a young girl turns out to be the culprit behind their unprepared display of abilities: a primary school student named Kihara Nayuta.

The story revolves around a boy and a girl who travel together through a world that is gradually nearing its end. A mysterious illness has emerged that erases the very existence of everyone who suffers from it. The story does, however, not focus on the tragic aspect of this fairly post-apocalyptic setting, but rather shows the people and events the two travelers come across during their journey.

A series of short stories in the world of Toaru Majutsu no Index organized into chapters featuring Kanzaki Kaori as the protagonist, going around the world and space doing missions for the Church of Necessary Evil, however, there is more than meets the eye as each incident is connected.

One chapter was bundled with each limited edition release of the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun anime DVD and BDs, with all of them together being equivalent to a single normal Toaru Majutsu no Index volume

A collection of four short stories and manga from Toaru Majutsu no Index & Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, previously only seen limited release. Because it has manga illustrations, the width and height of the light novel is greater than a regular light novel, using B6 paper instead of the usual A6 paper.

The light novel marks for the first time that both Haimura Kiyotaka and Fuyukawa Motoi are credited as illustrators on the same light novel.

Stories include:

* Stiyl Magnus – A single mission is given to Stiyl by the Anglican Church’s Necessarius. When Stiyl arrives in Academy City once more, his way is blocked by Theodosia Electra, a fellow member of Necessarius. The reason she is fighting with Stiyl lies with a girl named Patricia Birdway. A battle between magicians over the techniques of the Dvergr from Norse mythology begins.

* Mark Space – Mark, a magician from the British magic cabal the Dawn-Colored Sunlight, has been instructed to save his boss’ little sister. Mark managed to safely make contact with his boss’ sister aboard a survey ship, the Blue Research, but a magician who seems to be from a different cabal attacks. Mark plans to rescue his boss’ sister using his personal magic that uses tarot cards.

* Kamijou Touma – While walking through District 21 of Academy City, Kamijou Touma and Index run into a magician named Fleiss. Due to Kamijou’s usual misfortune, he somehow ends up on the run from Academy City along with Fleiss. In the process, Kamijou hears of some ridiculous information from Fleiss about an unknown lifeform on Mars.

* Uiharu Kazari – A carjacking occurs in Academy City. A member of Judgment, Uiharu Kazari ends up helping resolve the situation. The ultimate goal of the carjacking is a large scale terrorist attack on Academy City. In order to stop a large special vehicle roaring along at 120kph, Uiharu struggles alongside Yomikawa of Anti-Skill.

The story revolves around Charles Karino, a Levaamu Empire mercenary aerial pilot who mans the twin seater reconnaissance seaplane Santa Cruz. One day, he receives a preposterous assignment: to fly solo over 12,000 kilometers of enemy waters to protect a girl named Fana del Moral. Fana happens to be the next in line to the empire’s throne and a girl possessing beauty “equal to 5,000 beams of light.”

This is a standalone book. There’s another series under the name “To Aru Hikuushi e no Koiuta” (Love Song for a Certain Pilot) set in the same world, but in a completely different place and with different characters.

Adapted to anime as “The Princess and the Pilot”

The story is centred around a cute android who initially had a happy life with her master who dearly loved her. But she was then struck by a series of misfortunes and ended up in a robot-equivalent of concentration camp. Through experiencing and witnessing the sufferings towards herself as well as the people/robots around her, she eventually gained a better appreciation of
life.

The story takes place in approximately the year 3000, when humankind arrived at the peak of its civilization, but is losing it’s will to keep living. It follows a girl, called “princess” by those around her, living on a small island with a fifty person colony and a shinning coral reef. She is a descendent of the Moon people, and it focuses upon how her ancestors supposedly came to Earth.
